- Views from My Experiences as a School Librarian
- No.11, p.105-111
- Issue date
A place of shisho-kyoyu, literal translation of which is a librarian-teacher, if more properly a teacher-librarian, has been very unstable in the educational system in Japan.
The writer of this article points out from her experiences as a qualified school-librarian major problems that hinder desirable development of school libraries as a whole; namely a total lack of interests of teachers in library materials other than prescribed textbooks and a lack of understanding of administrator about the role of the school library as a learning resources center.
